Meet Bill and Dorothy Ardill

SIM missionaries in Nigeria

Bill and Dorothy are missionaries with SIM International. They have three daughters - Marie (Sept. 3, 1991), Heather and Anna (Oct. 19, 1993) and a son David (Jul. 26, 2000). The three girls and David attend the local mission school Hillcrest School.

Bill was born in Jos, Nigeria where his parents were SIM missionaries for 17 years. Bill completed medical school and then a surgery residency before joining SIM in 1986.

Dorothy completed a degree in Medical Technology and a Masters in Missions. While working at Moody Dorothy went on on a short term trip and met Bill in Liberia. They were married in 1987.

Bill and Dorothy worked at the ELWA Hospital in Liberia for four years. They were evacuated because of the civil war in 1990. If you are interested in ordering the book Bill wrote about their experiences leaving Liberia click here. They were reassigned in 1992 to Evangel Hospital in Jos, Nigeria.

Bill's primary responsibilities involve overseeing the surgery department at Evangel Hospital and surgical education of the residents in the Family Practice residency. Dorothy completed teacher certification courses while on furlough in 2006-2007 and is now teaching 3rd grade at Hillcrest School.

Anna, Marie and Heather

As a junior in high school, Marie enjoyed playing volleyball and running long distance in track. Marie loves being back in Nigeria and is excited about the school activities for the rest of the year. Marie also teaches piano lessons and sings in the Praise Team at church.
Heather loves soccer and track. Algebra is becoming a challenge. She is excelling in trumpet. Now she is helping her dad and scrubbing in during surgical procedures at the hospital. Eighth grade is fun for her because her class is a big class.

Anna has recently started playing the piccolo in addition to the flute. She is also making her own greeting cards and selling them in the community. Anna is excited about the upcoming 8th grade banquet in May. Her sisters still call her the "drama queen."

David loves second grade and especially playing on the playground. He also likes inventing things, working on creative projects and taking things apart. He delights us with his singing and unending questions. He is also a good swimmer, loves bike riding and going on our home-made go-kart.
