Mark Lovett Memorial Eye Clinic

Dr. Rod and Paulletta Lovett have been enthusiastic supporters of international medical missions for many years. Their son, Mark, was an ophthalmology resident and was excited about a future ministry helping provide eye care in needy areas of the world.

In November 2001, Dr. Mark Lovett died suddenly while undergoing tests for a lung condition. His parents wanted to help see their son's dreams of serving as a medical missionary realized. They established a fund to build an eye clinic at Evangel Hospital in Jos, Nigeria.

The Mark Elliot Lovett Memorial Eye Clinic was dedicated and opened November 2003 by Dr. and Mrs. Lovett and their son, David. With a staff of four eye nurses and a Nigerian ophthalmologist, the clinic is now fully operational. It has two examination rooms, an operating room, physicians' offices and a large comfortable patient screening and waiting area.

Christian Blind Mission has also been integrally involved in the eye department at Evangel. Through their donations of equipment and training of staff, they have supported the ongoing inpatient and outpatient eye ministry.

We are hoping to open an optical shop when funds are available.
